When we launched the Khalis Podcast six years ago, our aim was to create meaningful conversations around Sikh literature, history and contemporary thought. Over thirty-six episodes, we’ve had the privilege of speaking with authors, poets, educators and activists from across the Panth.
Now, we’re taking that mission in a new direction.
We’re pleased to introduce the Khalis Audio Library - a growing collection of narrated Sikh books that will sit alongside our publishing work.
The idea is born from a simple observation. Many people genuinely want to engage with Sikh literature but struggle to find the time to read consistently. Long commutes, busy family lives and demanding work schedules mean that books are often left waiting on the shelf.
Audio offers another way in.
It doesn’t replace the printed book, nor should it. Reading remains a unique experience that encourages deeper engagement with a text. But audio can make these works available to a wider audience, allowing listeners to learn while travelling, exercising or carrying out everyday tasks.
We begin this new series with Darkness Defied: The Life and Legacy of Jaswant Singh Khalra, written by Bhai Ajmer Singh and narrated by Ranveer Singh.

These opening chapters introduce listeners to Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra’s family background, early influences and political awakening, laying the foundations for the remarkable story that follows.
Our hope is that the Khalis Audio Library becomes more than a podcast. We want it to become an enduring archive of Sikh literature—one that complements our printed books and helps preserve these voices for future generations.
