If you’re a fashion girly standing in the baby aisle staring at diaper bags thinking do I really have to? the answer is no. You don’t. You just need a great big bag and an organizer insert to go inside it. That’s it.
I gave myself a push present and bought The Row Marlo Tote in 17” as my diaper bag. My criteria was simple: had to be black, needed a solid rectangular base, had to go over the shoulder, and had to be big enough to fit everything. The first time I went out with the baby, everything fit, his things, my things and I remember thinking, great, I was right. No diaper bag needed. And now that he’s over a year old, I find myself reaching for the Marlo Tote for any longer stretch out with him — dinner, errands, whatever. Bibs, toys, books, it fits it all. The bag just grows with you.
Here’s what I actually carry:
a medium sized pouch inside the bag with 3 diapers, wipes, hand sanitizer, and a little diaper balm. When he was a newborn I would also have a bottle, some formula, a burp cloth, a pacifier. Honestly, that’s it. I keep backup supplies in the car diaper caddy for anything extra, which takes all the pressure off the bag.
So if you’re stressing about it, don’t. Get yourself a beautiful oversized bag, grab one of these organizers, a pouch, and call it a day.
Here are a few bags I think are perfect for the mom who wants to keep her style intact and still be ready for a blowout:
