Summer and My Shopping Addiction

Something about summer makes my shopping addiction hit an all-time high. I think there’s a little more room to have fun — different textures to mix, one day you’re in a dress, the next you’re in Bermuda shorts and a flip flop. There’s a mix of fashion and there’s an ease to it. However, with that comes constantly adding things to my cart.

I’ve realized that in summer, tops are a big thing and it’s actually something I feel like I lack. I love investment pieces, but I find those pieces tend to lean toward blazers, trousers, and bags. Then summer comes along and I’m in desperate need of cute tops for girl dinners, events, and whatever girls trip comes up.

Summer can bring a lot of trendy pieces, so I try to stay away from those as much as I can, with the exception of a one-off here and there. I still look at summer pieces as timeless pieces I actually want in my closet long-term. Like if I’m buying a Khaite top, I know that’s going to work in the fall with a jacket or black trouser. It makes the piece justifiable and worth it. And yeah, maybe a short is only good for the summer months but if you buy a classic style, you’ll rewear it next season and won’t constantly be replenishing.

There’s a method to my madness, even if my husband can’t understand it. Anyway, the cart is currently full and I’m eyeing my next move but here are some favorites I’ve been wanting.

The Edit

KHAITE | Timy Crinkled-Voile Camisole Khaite tops just do it for me, and this slightly textured crinkle camisole in the most perfect golden hue is one of those pieces that will absolutely carry into fall.

LIÉ STUDIO | The Sadie Sterling Silver Onyx Beaded Necklace I’ve been loving the addition of necklaces to summer outfits — especially when you’re wearing a low top — and this one hits the sweet spot of chunky without being too much.

JUDE | Snug Leather Thong Sandals JUDE is doing absolutely no wrong right now — I just bought my first pair and will report back, but these have been sitting in my cart long enough and I’m ready to pull the trigger, because you can just tell a sandal is going to be sexy on the foot.

TOTEME | Twisted Jersey Halter Top I love a twist moment on a top, but it has to be done right, and this one is — shorts during the day, trousers at night, exactly the kind of versatility I’m after.

Reformation | Olina Cropped Pant These pants and a white tank — done and done. A complete summer outfit without trying too hard.

THE ROW | Terrasse Textured-Leather Shoulder Bag The strap height on this is perfect, especially in mom mode, and that buttery colorway is absolutely delicious.

Thitles | The ATLAS – Black & Black Are we all on a waitlist for these? The shape is perfect for oversized sunglasses, the way they wrap the head is so sleek — all the cool girls are wearing them, we just need them to come back in stock.

Clyque | AVA Short The knee-length short is that effortless off-duty vibe every girl needs — it says I don’t care, but I clearly do and the cotton poplin Clyque uses is genuinely unmatched.

NORMA KAMALI | Caftan Dress If you’re going on vacation, this caftan is a need — throw it on for a beach day, pool day, whatever, add a big sunnies, and you’re done.

STAUD | Drift Leather-Trimmed Beaded Wood Shoulder Bag A beaded bag is a summer must, especially if you have a Europe trip coming up, and the mix of colors on this one adds just the right amount of pattern to any outfit.

JULIETTA | Nera Rhodium-Pleated Resin and Onyx Cuff A good cuff takes your entire look to the next level and makes you look like you know exactly what you’re doing — this one is such a chic statement with that solid black moment through the middle.

PROENZA SCHOULER WHITE LABEL | Natalia Cotton Shorts These are on sale, which makes them an even bigger no-brainer — the perfect classic cotton short you’ll have in your closet forever, dressed up or down.
