Kara Kull · ✨ You are Magic! ✨

Listen, today is all about Mother’s Day, which is a holiday that can make some of us feel pretty darn crappy, depending on what’s going on in our lives (even when it’s good, it can be complicated). So, feel free to ignore this list, use it as your personal grab bag of fun presents people can buy you, or pick something to give to a mother figure in your life - this is for you so use it how it best works.

Sending you so much love,
Kara

I’m a big believer that holidays should be used to buy / give things that we normally wouldn’t spend the money on ourselves. And with no judgment!

You want to test drive a neon swimsuit that gives you Kardashian-esque curves?* It’s your moment, baby. You know your mom’s been pining for those Thomas Keller macarons she had on her solo trip through Napa? Now’s your moment to shine.

Of course, you don’t need gifts for the holiday to be complete! Of course, spending time together is the most meaningful gift! Of course, you love the handmade cards and clay handprints!

And also, I’m not going to say no to a luxurious candle that I would never normally drop $40 on, but also makes my house smell like a lovely, high end spa instead of its current iteration, which is wet dog mingled with dirty soccer socks.

So, enjoy! And let me know if there’s anything that you’re planning on buying or giving in the comments!! ❤️

*It’s actually crazy good, although I’ve had a hard time figuring out where to wear it. It’s super sexy and not exactly appropriate for my usual “diving for a football in the pool” antics….

Should you get the book lover in your life a book? Absolutely. (And here’s a list of ideas.) Should you pair it with one of these other ideas and give THE BEST BOOK PRESENT EVER? Also, absolutely.

  1. I’ve bought this sweatshirt for several friends’ birthdays this year and it’s as cute as it looks online. The colors are subtle and I like how it doesn’t scream “BOOKS!”

  2. This is one of my most used pieces of hardware (and an excellent gift!). It’s a reading light you wear around your neck, perfect for camping, reading in the car, or next to a snoring someone. It’s light and stays in place…

  3. My favorite gift to give - a Book of the Month subscription! You can give 3-, 6-, or 12-month subscriptions where the recipient gets to pick one book a month out of a curated list of new releases (they always have the hot book everyone is currently talking about, like Yesteryear). Also, a great teacher gift!

I’m in my couch era.

I didn’t think this was a thing, but I’m really into lazy nights on the couch (reading, duh) with a mask and comfy pjs. Anyone else with me?

  1. I have a version of these pajamas (the leopard print) and love them. Every time I pull them on, I feel happy because I look so cute and I’m just GOING TO BED. So decadent! (Also, how much fun would it be to get a matching set with your kiddo or mom?!?!)

  2. I must have gotten 500 Instagram ads for this mask before I finally caved and I’m glad I did because it’s actually a winner! I usually put it on before we watch a movie because it takes 3-4 hours to completely soak in, but I’m astonished at how much better my skin looks the next day. (I gave it to all my friends for Christmas and they agree!)

  3. This stuff is pricey, but that’s why it’s the perfect gift! And it also WORKS. I used it twice last week and kept peeking at myself in the mirror because I couldn’t believe how soft and glow-y (truly) my skin looked.

  4. I know the whole world has linked to these Lake lounge sets, but I got a set for Christmas and wear them non-stop. They’re the perfect thing to throw on for a Friday night movie when you feel weird in your pjs because it’s 6:30pm, but also need to be able to fully relax. Can’t recommend enough!

Oh, I love a meaningful gift and Mother’s Day is the perfect day to give and get something that shows you put in the effort.

  1. Got a puzzler in your life? Shutterfly will turn your fave photos into puzzles with between 60 - 1200 pieces. Imagine getting to spend 1200 pieces with your adorable kiddos…

  2. There’s no shame in the CVS photo game! If it’s down to the wire, their in-store, photo mugs are an EXCELLENT gift that is ready in an hour. Ask me how I know! 😜

  3. Have a special vacation you took with your mom or family? Or just fun photos and memories? Turn it into a reel viewer! (When the kids were little they would spend MINUTES looking through these, which was a huge win.)

  4. This is one of my fave gifts. You buy a gorgeous photo box from Artifact Uprising which holds 50 prints and is already an A+ present. But, THEN, the next time you go on a special vacation or have a big birthday, you get MORE prints done so your mom (or you) can keep swapping them out. Literally, the gift that keeps giving!

  5. I want one of these. How fun would this portable printer be at family events? Everyone gets a souvenir for their fridge!

Oh, I love bringing a whimsical gift for someone’s home that they would never buy for themselves. Or getting one!

  1. LOVE these napkins. They’re so effortlessly cool and would brighten up any dinner table. Yes, you may buy these for me for Mother’s Day.

  2. This vase is so cute and subtle. There’s nothing better than a small something you can pull out every now and again to remind yourself you’re rocking the mom thing.

  3. I don’t know why I went geese crazy, but I’m obsessed with this vase! How fun would this be on a side table?? Guaranteed to get a smile when the mama opens it.

  4. Mother’s Day should be about getting something you’d never buy yourself like this adorable ice bucket that would absolutely be the talk of every dinner party.

  5. Again, these geese are killing me. I love these that you can sneak these cuties into a potted plant for a fun surprise.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say I use Mother’s Day as an opportunity to get something fashion-y that I’ve been eyeing. We should get what we want, am I right?!?!?

  1. This sweatshirt! Cozy, comfy, cool. Yes, please.

  2. I bought these huggie earrings during Baublebar’s last sale and wear them every day. They’re big enough that they show up, but small enough you can wear them with everything from work out clothes to dresses.

  3. FINE. These shoes are what I really want! They’re totally over-the-top and expensive and I love them with all my heart and would wear them EVERY DAY, pinkie swear!!!!

  4. Oh, you want meaningful, do you? How about this birthstone necklace that is the perfect length? Every gal in your life needs one (including you!).

  5. These are the it shoe of the season and all I can say is - THANK YOU! You can wander around the garden, spray off and head to dinner where everyone will mistake you for an Olsen twin. (They are really cute with shorts!)

At heart, I’m a traditionalist (and avant garde and a little bohemian and slightly uptight - I’M COMPLICATED, OKAY?!?!). What I’m trying to say is I wouldn’t turn down a bouquet, but what if we give it some more oomph?

  1. These earrings are perfection. Just the right size, subtle, yet totally on trend with florals (and they come in a ton of colors!).

  2. This one is a bit niche, but perfect for a mom who loves to DIY her flowers. Once a month, they send you a big ole box of stems (50!) to put together however you see fit. Such a lovely gift!

  3. Um, these flowers are not real?!?! I know! They fooled me. Handmade from Italian paper, you or your mom can enjoy them all year instead of just this week.

  4. I mean these earrings. Dramatic, oversized, chic. My kind of florals.

Did you see anything you like? Anything you want to give? Let me know in the comments if this is hitting!
