Do any of you have a really wild imagination? Dreamlife? I always have, but the past several years, both have been even more remarkable.

I have dreamed the ghost of Sylvia Plath visited me at my elementary school playground. Pretty cool.

I also dreamed that my husband’s ex moved into our house and had some kind of terrible illness and somehow it was my job to take care of her. NOT COOL.

Recently, I purchased the collected works of Emily Dickinson at a thrift store. Soon after, I moved, so it was thrown into one of about 40 boxes of books. I unpacked all of my books in the past two weeks and placed Emily’s collected works next to my bed beside Jorie Graham’s newest book.

When I opened Emily’s collected works, I noticed that many of the pages seemed stuck together. When I pulled a little, a needle and thread popped out. I laid there, stunned for quite a while. And then had chills. And then started laughing in a very creepy way because I was very creeped out, frankly.

Below is the page where I pulled the needle out. I folded the page over to come back to it. Today’s poetry prompts are inspired by the words on this particular page of Emily’s collected works.
