I picked up my pen to write to you multiple times in July, but I never completed the thoughts I had.

My train of thought never reached its bus stop; it stopped halfway. It’ll be improper for me to serve half-baked thoughts, so I kept them to myself.

First, I wanted to write to you about

BURNOUTS

“The moving train meets burnout station”

I had too many tasks to do, and somehow it became overwhelming. Coupled with the thousand emotions I was battling, I broke down.

It was so bad that I found it hard to ask for help. A lot of people were willing to listen to me. That’s all they could offer: listening ears.

I was drowning on my own. At burnout station, I remembered it was okay to stop and start over. Like, isn’t that my specialty? Lil Ms. stop and restrategize.

It reminded me of my friend, Maya.

Maya is a cool, multi-talented creative, and I noticed he takes these breaks from social media, then returns back with multiple, multiple posts.

So maybe it’s fine for me to take breaks, even if or when I’m not seeing measurable progress.

My body eventually took this break. I have no idea what I am doing, but I’m doing something.

I wanted to write about the dirty state of my country, Nigeria. Seeking a solution to that drove me down a rabbit hole of research concerning recycling measures that other countries use to maintain cleaniness while evading pollution.

It won’t be right to criticize without offering a solution.

Recycling is, however, the only solution. Recycling waste to become renewable energy.

But somehow, Nigeria, as usual, is lacking in infrastructure to gather and recycle waste.

It’s important to know or understand that it’s not just the lack of infrastructure or the government’s failure in performing their duties that causes the country to be dirty. The citizens are active contributors to this damage. Citizens are dirty animals. Dirty animals.

People have forgotten how to dispose of trash; they just throw things on the floor. And the fools who pee everywhere!!! omg omg omg omggggggggg.

You’re greeted by a stench and pile of dirt at every bus stop. EVERY BUS STOP. People no longer honour the whole “environmental sanitation day”; they just stay at home and watch the time go by.

Now that the weather is being harsher than usual, we’re suffering the consequence of our actions.

FLOODING.

I can’t recall all that happened in July; I was too busy making it through the month.

I hope your July was great. Moving on

MEDIA I CONSUMED IN JULY:

I watched a lot of short films on YouTube. SIRAAM, Silence is Loud, Care or Control, Udo, and Dear Dija.

I finally finished reading “INVISIBLE STRINGS” by Naledi Mashishi. I loved it!

I listened to Yosa’s Ardour set and his Group Therapy Ibadan set from 2025. Almost every morning on my way to work.
