🥗 Ingredients

For the Moong dal chilla:

  • Yellow moong dal (soaked for 3-4 hours)- 1/2 cup

  • Green chilli- 1

  • Ginger- 1/2 inch

  • Cumin seeds- 1/4 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder- 1/4 teaspooon

  • Salt- to taste

  • Water (for blending)- 2-3 tablespoon

  • Oil- 1 teaspoon

For the filling:

  • Onion (chopped)- 1/4 cup

  • Tomato (chopped)- 1/4 cup

  • Capsicum (chopped)- 1/4 cup

  • Grated carrot (chopped)- 1/4 cup

  • Shredded cabbage/ lettuce- 1/4 cup

  • Sweet corn- 2 tablespoon (optional)

  • Coriander leaves (chopped)- to garnish (optional)

  • Chaat masala- 1/2 teaspoon

  • Roasted cumin powder- 1/4 teaspoon

  • Lemon juice- 1 teaspoon

Optional toppings:

  • Hung curd/ Greek yogurt- 2 tablespoon

  • Coriander leaves (chopped)- to garnish (optional)

  • Mint chutney/ Green chutney- 1 tablespoon

  • Chilli flakes/ Black pepper- to taste

Method

  1. Soak the yellow moong dal for 3–4 hours and drain the water. Blend the soaked dal with green chilli, ginger, cumin seeds, turmeric, salt, and a little water to make a smooth batter.

  2. In a bowl, mix the chopped onion, tomato, capsicum, grated carrot, cabbage (or lettuce), sweet corn, coriander, chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, and lemon juice.

  3. Heat a non-stick pan and lightly grease it with oil. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the pan and spread it into a thin, round chilla.

  4. Cook for 2–3 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 1–2 minutes until both sides are golden. Fold each chilla gently into a taco shape while still warm.

  5. Fill the chillas with the prepared vegetable mixture. Top with hung curd or Greek yogurt and mint chutney, if using.

  6. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve immediately with extra mint chutney or lemon wedges.
