I am still the same old soul within,
With ancient thoughts where I begin.
Perhaps what binds my heart is old,
Yet now a fiercer truth is told...
This new-forged self, untamed and bright,
Will blind you with its sudden light.
Should you return, your eyes will miss
The ghost of what once used to is.
Every step I tread today
Carries iron on its way.
Every choice I dare to make
Crushes ghosts for my own sake,
Grounding bitter years to dust
Beneath a stride you cannot trust.
You may search the silence deep
For that fragile girl who used to weep,
Begging mercy at your feet…
You will find no echo on that street,
Only quiet, vast and cold,
Where stories of the past are told.
Oh, thank you for the countless ways
You shattered all my golden days,
For teaching me how hate can bloom
Where once devotion filled the room,
And why a heart must break its chains
To wash away the lingering stains.
Something deep inside has grown,
A quiet balm I’ve come to own,
Healing every ancient scar
Beneath a newly risen star.
I am not that fragile ghost,
The one you thought you mattered most.
So how could you expect the grace
Of old submissive resting place?
Turn away and leave this door…
Nothing of yours lives here anymore.
Not even me…

Author's Note
Growth doesn't happen overnight, and neither does healing. Sometimes, it takes hitting the absolute quietest part of a heartbreak to finally hear the strength of your own voice. Writing this piece was a reminder that while the past leaves its marks, the person who emerges on the other side is entirely unshakeable.
