New Canaan Head Coach Lou Marinelli Wins Walter Camp Connecticut High School Coach of the Year

New Canaan High School head coach Lou Marinelli has won Walter Camp Connecticut High School Coach of the Year.

Coach Marinelli led New Canaan to an unprecedented 13-0 record this past season and capped it off with a 34-14 win over Cheshire in the Class L State Championship game. This is Coach Marinelli’s second time taking home the award, his first since 2008.

The 2025 season concluded Coach Marinelli’s 44th season as head coach of the New Canaan Rams. In 2017, he won his 332nd career game, which made him the winningest coach in Connecticut High School Football history. Throughout all of those wins and seasons at the helm of New Canaans football program, he’s also won 16 State Championships and coached numerous players who went on to excel at the collegiate and professional level. Congratulations, Coach Marinelli!
