Allah will give you the dream, but He will build the dreamer first

At the beginning, no matter how chaotic or unreliable your life is, when you sit down to make du’a - it’s always filled with hope.

You imagine all of the wonderful things that can happen in your future. You picture the moment Allah finally opens the door, and you think:

“Ya Allah, I know You can change my situation, and I’m waiting for it.”

And you’re right.

Allah can.

A single command from Him can change everything.

“His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is.” {36:82}

But...

What happens when days of waiting turn into weeks? Months? Years?

Still trying, still improving yourself, still taking the steps, still doing “what you’re supposed to do”

And yet...nothing seems to change after you made that du’a.

Everything stays the same, mostly.

This is where many believers become exhausted.

Not because they stopped believing in Allah.

But because they don’t know what they’re supposed to do next. What is there supposed to be next?

“Have sabr.” “Keep making du’a.” “Trust Allah’s timing.”

And you do. You really do.

But eventually, another question goes unanswered in your heart:

“Ya Allah... I’ve done everything I know how to do. What am I missing?”

That question isn’t a sign of weak iman.

That question is the sign of someone who has reached the middle of the waiting season.

The beginning of waiting is filled with excitement, and that has long passed. Now, you are in the middle.

And the middle is where Allah begins shaping you.

Because He is doing something that we don’t expect (or like) when we make du’a to Him.

While we are hyper-focused on the dream...He is focused on the dreamer.

And that dreamer is you.

Muslim women are dreamers who appreciate the dreams Allah gave them and are willing to work for the character, patience, and closeness to Allah needed when that door (or doors) finally open.

We ask Allah for the blessing, but Allah also knows that the blessing comes with a responsibility. And sometimes, He does not place something heavy into hands that are still learning how to carry it.

A farmer does not plant a seed one day and gets the harvest the next. The roots must sprout and grow before the fruit appears.

Allah may be growing roots inside of you before He allows the dunya to see the fruit.

The greatest answer to your du’a doesn’t begin when the blessing arrives. It begins long before that.

It begins the moment Allah starts building the woman who will one day receive it.
