Hey, remember when Mega Man: Dual Override got announced at the Game Awards last December? That announcement gave me the perfect idea for my next article series; a retrospective of the whole classic Mega Man series! Like my similar series on Quake and Metroid Prime, I’ll be running through the Mega Man games starting from the 1987 original all the way to 2018’s Mega Man 11, making this easily the largest of my retrospective series. To help make it feel special and show my love for this great franchise, I had my talented friend Grace whip up an awesome ensemble piece to headline the whole thing!
Mega Man is one of the foundational action platformers from the earliest days of the genre, being one of the few titles at the time that stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Nintendo’s own output. He is in many ways emblematic of Capcom’s shift from the arcade market to home consoles, and the Mega Man franchise. To keep things focused this time around, these articles will specifically cover the main series Mega Man games; no Mega Man X, Mega Man Legends, etc. There’s no shortage of interesting history and fun experiences to be had even with that focus, and I’ve worked hard to ensure new readers and Mega-Fans alike can find something to enjoy in these articles. I’ll be releasing a new article every Monday - Mega Monday, if you will - and will continue to release other articles on some new releases like Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls and more in the meantime. I hope you all enjoy it!
