Good morning!

It’s been so lovely to see some sunshine this week, and the blossom and daffodils have really made me happy - even my dog walks have been more enjoyable and less muddy.

I hope you like this edition of The Lie In - it’s a selection of some of the things I’ve been enjoying lately.

As ever, I love to read your comments and any recommendations you may have for me.

Have a lovely Sunday :)

I read this book recently on our trip to Thailand and it was the perfect holiday read. The Wedding People centres around the character of Professor Phoebe Stone who arrives at a Rhode Island hotel with the intention of ending her life only to be caught up in the whirlwind of a frivolously extravagant wedding ‘week’. It’s a funny, clever tale of self exploration and realisation.

It’s quite rare these days for me to get properly invested in a podcast but this one is so well done. It’s the cold case of the 2001 murder of 23 year old Rachelle Childs, whose body was found burned in New South Wales. Her sister, Kristy, has been seeking justice for two decades and this podcast goes some way to answer some of her questions. It’s really well investigated and thoughtfully told.

We’ve nearly finished watching this brilliant Netflix show. How to get to Heaven from Belfast tells of three old school friends coming together to solve the mystery surrounding the death (maybe) of a fourth friend. Over the years their lives have taken very different paths but there’s something in their past that will always pull them together.

I love the chemistry between the three friends and the dark humour has some really laugh out loud moments, especially Ardal O’Hanlon’s character. If you liked Bad Sisters I think you’ll love this.

These trousers are my new favourites. They’re such a good weight for this time of year and the barrel shape is so flattering. They’re slightly over-sized so I’d say you can afford to size down. A small is perfect for me.

We went to see the brilliant David Byrne on Monday and it was one of the best live shows I’ve seen. The choreography, visuals, vocals, and song choice were amazing and at 73 David Byrne is as inspiring as ever.

I’ve been a Talking Heads fan since I was in my teens but his more recent solo work is lovely - melodic and sweet and slightly surreal. Give his latest album, Who is the Sky, a listen if you want to brighten your day!

Since lockdown I’ve been tinting my eyebrows at home. I used to use Eyelure but I’ve found more recently that it hasn’t been very long-lasting. Luckily I think I’ve found a good alternative - Refectocil. I’ve had great results so far. Please note that the developer has to be bought separately.
