1. ETH SD x Alchemy University Bootcamp Certifications Arrive Today!
Congrats to all of the students from our first cohort of Alchemy University’s Ethereum Developer Bootcamp. Students will receive an email today with claim codes for their NFT. There will be a separate NFT for participants and graduates. Don’t forget to share your NFT on Twitter once it has been claimed.

2. Event Recap: How to Use Thirdweb
When talking about optimized dApp development, Thirdweb is packing serious firepower. Last Thursday, Developer Experience Engineer Jarrod Watts joined the ETH SD community at the Edge HQ remotely for a demo on Thirdweb’s dev tools and how they simplify building and deployment.

3. Community Update & Spotlight: 0xJeff.eth’s Member Directory
We’re always looking to learn more about the community! After an awesome suggestion from 0xJeff.eth, ETH SD is starting a member directory for everyone to add their skills, interest, and contact info. In the future, ETH SD will be debuting a core community registry so members can reach out to each other for dev needs/work, to jam on ideas, or just hang out!

Q: Shill us your favorite project.
A: Synthetix and Curve have very cool ecosystems, although the tokens themselves aren't too exciting. But interacting with them on L2s like Optimism or Arbitrum can teach a person a lot about what smart contracts can do.

1. Scroll
A zkEVM-based zkRollup on Ethereum, Scroll enables built-in compatibility for existing Ethereum applications and tools. Scroll prioritizes the developer and user experience, and adheres to the guiding technical principles of Scalability, EVM Equivalence, and Security.

2. Fuel
Regarding itself as the world’s fastest modular execution layer, Fuel is a UTXO-based smart contract blockchain and strives to deliver maximum security and the highest flexible throughput. Fuel accomplishes this by creating its tech stack with parallel transaction execution, the Fuel Virtual Machine, and the Sway language.

3. Urbit
An operating system for the future, and not from the past like current OS’s, Urbit is a new type of computer that places the utmost importance on networking, identity, and data. The project has been worked on for more than a decade, and is designed to run peer-to-peer applications.

1. DOJ Investigating Binance for Possible Violation of Russian Sanctions
The Justice Department is investigating Binance Holdings Ltd., the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, over potential violations of U.S. sanctions related to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

This inquiry is separate from an ongoing criminal investigation and adds another layer of scrutiny to the company. Binance, which has been working to resolve previous sanctions evasion allegations involving Iran, maintains that it fully complies with all U.S. and international financial sanctions and has implemented robust KYC protocols.

2. Coinbase Exceeds Earnings Expectations, Leads to 17% Stock Jump
Coinbase shares have risen after the company's Q1 results exceeded analyst expectations in both revenue and loss per share. The crypto exchange reported an adjusted loss per share of $0.34, compared to the anticipated $1.45 loss, while Q1 revenue reached $773 million, surpassing estimates of $655 million.

Despite the better-than-expected earnings, some analysts remain cautious about Coinbase's future due to regulatory uncertainties and lack of visibility around organic growth. Meanwhile, Coinbase continues to advocate for better regulatory transparency in Washington D.C.

3. New York Attorney General Proposes Bill to Increase Regulatory Power
New York Attorney General Letitia James has drafted an act to strengthen crypto regulations and protect investors from fraud. The legislation, which will be discussed in the 2023 legislative session, proposes measures such as refunding customers who are victims of fraud, requiring independent and public auditing of crypto companies, and preventing crypto asset creators from owning crypto platforms.

If the bill becomes law, lending and borrowing platforms may no longer be able to operate in New York, and several centralized exchanges with their tokens could be barred from providing services to New York residents.
