A short one this month. I’ve just come back from a wonderful vacation to South Limburg including the lovely city of Maastricht.

Ceiling of a church turned into a library ("Boekhandel Dominicanen" in Maastricht). A cyclist climbing the Keutenberg, a steep hill in the south of Limburg, Netherlands. It has a maximum gradient of 22 degrees.

👨‍🎨 Abstract Season 2

In April I recommended watching the series Abstract: The Art of Design. Recently Netflix released season 2! This time with the story of these six creative professionals:

  • Olafur Eliasson: The Design of Art
  • Neri Oxman: Bio-Architecture
  • Ruth Carter: Costume Design
  • Cas Holman: Design for Play
  • Ian Spalter: Digital Product Design
  • Jonathan Hoefler: Typeface Design

🌍 Kurzgesagt - In a Nutshell

A colleague of mine recommended this YouTube channel to me, and I’m so glad he did. They make beautiful animation video’s in which they explain things (in a nutshell).

Watch this video for example:

🎥 Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

★★★★

I watched this film in 35mm (analogue, as Quentin Tarantino meant it to be watched) in Eye Amsterdam. There’s something about watching films in analogue. I love it. 35mm is equivalent to 6K in digital. Add to that the rich analogue color palette and the beauty of the gritty film grain, and you have a unique cinematic experience.

🎶 Lana Del Rey - Cinnamon Girl

A gorgeous song from Lana Del Rey’s latest album Normal Fucking Rockwell!
