I started reading in high school, all thanks to our super cool literature teacher. Since then, I’ve become the type of person who’s obsessed with hitting my Goodreads reading goal every year. Two hundred and sixteen books later, these are the seven that changed me the most.
I read most of these more than ten years ago but I still catch myself thinking about them. Their ideas have become such a part of the way I see the world that I sometimes forget a time I didn’t think this way.
They’re not exactly hidden gems. If you’ve spent any time exploring spirituality or self-development, you’ve probably heard of most of them already. I think there’s a reason they continue to find new readers year after year.
As I was putting this list together, I noticed a common thread; none of these books promised to make me more.
When you think of the self-improvement category, you think they will promise more success, more confidence, more productivity or at least a better morning routine.
