Two months ago, I was having coffee with a close friend who was telling me about her psychotherapy sessions and how often they ended up talking about her dreams. That caught my attention because I’ve always had incredibly vivid dreams, like I wouldn’t be emotionally over the dream for several hours after waking up. But I’d never thought to write them down, let alone look for patterns in them.
I wasn’t interested in dream dictionaries or symbolic interpretations. I didn’t want to know what dreaming about snakes or teeth or falling was supposed to mean.
I also wasn’t in a position to commit to psychotherapy. It’s a significant investment of time, energy and money, and right now, it isn’t something I can realistically do.
So I tried something else.
Every morning, I’d write down my dreams while I could still remember them. After a couple of months, I fed them all into AI with one instruction:
Don’t interpret, just read them all together and tell me what keeps repeating.
