So, all this time I’ve been very particular about spelling fibre as fibre. I’m a Brit after all.
As of today though, I’m learning to type “fiber” because my book, Fibre Fiber Power is officially crossing the pond!
So many of you have messaged me across the years about whether my books, Genius Gut and Fibre Power, are available in the US. Up until now, the only solution was either begging a friend or colleague returning from Europe to smuggle a copy in their suitcase, or paying very expensive shipping to get it onto American soil, and to your door.
I am (quite literally grinning ear to ear) thrilled (!!) to finally share that Fiber Power will be available in the US on 9th February 2027.
If you're newer here and wondering what Fiber Power actually is, it's my four-week guide to eating more fibre, built around 60+ recipes you'd genuinely cook on a Tuesday night. It's not a rigid plan or a dramatic overhaul, no strict rules, no extremes, just gradually building fibre up in an easy, tasty way.
As you can see, there’s a very gorgeous brand new cover!
I’ve been working closely with the publishers to update the content for a US audience, and the recipes are now in US measurements too.
I didn’t even know that the US arm of my literary agency were pitching Fiber Power to US publishing houses. So you can imagine I very nearly fainted when the call came, while I was working in Portugal earlier this year, to say a US book deal was on the cards. Cue lots of quick-fire messages to the family WhatsApp group!
It’s notoriously difficult for UK authors’ books to make it to the US. One of the first things a US publisher looks at is whether a British author already has North American readers, and thanks to you, I could show them I did. You all here on Substack are a key factor why this US edition is happening - my American and Canadian readers.
So what I really want to say here is thank you.
By the pure act of subscribing to Second Brain, you’ve caused a ripple effect that means 1. simple, practical health can reach a larger audience, and 2. I can keep doing what I do. It means a lot.
If you want to keep that ripple going, a pre-order today is the single most helpful thing you can do.
Pre-order US edition (Bookshop.org)
There’s something I didn’t know until I became an author - it's that every pre-order, whether it's placed today or the night before publication, counts as a first-week sale.
And first-week sales are everything in publishing. They decide whether bookstores stock the book, whether it has a shot at the bestseller lists, and how much the publisher gets behind it after launch.
So a pre-order today is quietly worth more to Fiber Power than the same purchase in March. And if you order on Amazon, you're also guaranteed the lowest price, whatever the price drops to between now and publication is what you’re then charged.
I find most people have no idea it works this way, I certainly didn’t! But it’s one of the best ways to support your favourite writers and authors.
As someone who finds self-promotion physically painful, I’ll let Jamie Oliver do the convincing for me:
‘Go big on fibre with Emily’s easy-to-follow tips, hacks and recipes. She has a genius way of taking the science and breaking it down so it’s super easy to digest’ - Jamie Oliver
If you’re not pre-ordering there are other ways to support too:
Forward this email to one American friend who’d love this book.
If you’ve read the UK edition, writing a review on Amazon carries real weight (currently 4.9 stars!).
Request Fiber Power at your local library. US libraries order based on reader requests, so it costs nothing and genuinely helps.
Off to practice, not practise, typing fiber…
Chat soon,
Emily xx
