I reckon we have the sugar playbook figured out.

When you decide to cut out sugar, the feedback loop is almost instantaneous. You can taste it, you can spot it on a nutrition label (if you know where to look), and if you stop eating it, the scales usually drop. You get an immediate reward for doing the right thing.

Seed oils have none of that.

They are the ultimate silent assassin. They are tasteless, they are poorly (or not) labeled, and when you cut them out, you don’t magically drop two kilos overnight.

When I first set out the biochemical evidence in Toxic Oil, and later followed it up in Eat Real Food and The Good Fat Guide, this was the hardest barrier to break through. It is incredibly difficult to convince someone to change their life today when the only “reward” is that in thirty years’ time, they are the one who doesn’t end up with cancer, Motor Neurone Disease, or dementia.

It is human nature to ignore a threat that is thirty years away. But we cannot afford to ignore this one, because the consequences are devastating, irreversible, and intergenerational. We aren’t just talking about our own health; we are looking at the foundational cellular corruption driving things as horrific as childhood cancer. That’s right, your future kids are in the gun for what you put in your mouth today.

So, how do you fight an enemy you can’t taste, when the reward is decades away?

You stop treating it like a future health crisis, and you start treating it like the present-day danger it actually is.

The food industry didn’t flood the market with seed oils because they care about your heart. They did it because of the bottom line.

Human beings evolved to run on stable, traditional fats like butter, tallow, and coconut oil. But those ingredients are expensive to source and store.

Industrial seed oils like canola, soybean, sunflower, grapeseed and rice-bran are dirt cheap. They are highly unstable polyunsaturated fats. By the time they hit the deep fryer, they are already highly oxidized and it only gets worse once they are inside you.

The food industry realised they could strip out the expensive, real food, replace it with this cheap industrial lubricant, and then slap a “Low Saturated Fat” sticker on the packaging to make you feel good about buying it.

They are charging you for premium fuel, but pumping your engine full of cheap sludge.

If you want to know what that sludge is actually doing to you, you don’t need a PhD in biochemistry. You just need to understand basic mechanics.

Think of your body’s cells like microscopic engines. To function, they need a stable membrane (an outer wall that controls what gets in and out). When you eat saturated fats, your body builds strong, stable cellular walls.

Because seed oils are chemically unstable, when you consume them, your body has no choice but to build those cellular walls out of fragile, volatile materials. Once incorporated into our oxygen rich body, they react. They literally oxidize. It is the exact same chemical process as metal rusting.

You are building your cellular engines out of materials that are guaranteed to rust.

This is the biological reality behind the seed oil flood:

  • The Brain Drain: Your brain is roughly 60% fat. It requires stable fats to insulate its delicate wiring. When you flood your system with oxidized seed oils, you are frying the motherboard. This systemic inflammation is the exact pathway accelerating neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Motor Neurone Disease.

  • The Intergenerational Toll: This cellular rust isn’t temporary. It becomes part of your physical architecture. If you build your own cells out of mutated, degraded materials, you pass those compromised blueprints onto the next generation. This is the mechanism fundamentally weakening our biological foundation and driving acceleration in childhood cancers.

You shouldn’t have to wait thirty years to see the benefit of quitting seed oils. The benefit starts today. The benefit is reclaiming your agency, protecting your family and refusing to hand your hard-earned cash over to a system that is actively poisoning you.

That is exactly what The Seed Oil Sleuth is built to do.

I am going to bring the receipts. I am writing the automated data-harvesting scripts to scrape the databases of our biggest supermarkets and fast-food chains. We are going to bypass the marketing departments and look at the raw code of what they are actually feeding us.

Here is what you can expect:

  1. The Exposés: I will name the brands and the menus hiding behind “health halos” while pumping your food full of machine lubricant.

  2. The Science Translated: I will unpack the most recent clinical research and medical literature linking seed oil consumption to specific disease states, translating the heavy biochemistry into the plain-English “Damage Reports” you need to understand the threat.

  3. The Kitchen Table Rules: No complex jargon. Just plain-English, black-and-white rules for how to read a label in five seconds and what belongs in the bin.

  4. Real Food Solutions: Eating cleanly does not mean gnawing on celery sticks and it doesn’t require a private chef. My wife Lizzie has done all the cooking for our family since our kids were toddlers. When she’s in the kitchen on a weekend, she is still baking homemade pizzas, fresh breads, and cakes for our six kids. You don’t have to give up the food your family loves, you just have to take back control of the ingredients.

The food industry relies on the fact that seed oils are invisible.

It’s time to turn the lights on.

The first Seed Oil Sleuth article will be an investigation of the Guzman y Gomez menu. It will drop next week—stay tuned.
