Charlie to the Rescue! · Charlie Dog

Hello,

I wanted to reach out on behalf of the Humane Society of Washington County about a very special girl named Lily.

Lily was brought to us by a good samaritan after being found as a stray. At only 3 years old, she already carries herself like a dog who has had a lifetime of experiences behind her. While we don’t know her history, the condition she arrived in suggested that life had not been particularly kind to her. Since arriving, however, Lily has slowly begun to show us the gentle, sweet dog underneath it all.

Lily can be nervous when meeting new people and needs a little time and some gentle pets before she feels comfortable. Once she does, she is incredibly sweet. She spends much of her time quietly watching the world go by from her kennel, and our volunteers have enjoyed taking her for walks because she is wonderfully easy on leash.

She also does well in playgroups with other gentle dogs. Lily isn’t interested in rough-and-tumble play and would much rather wander around the yard at her own pace, sniffing and taking everything in. Every now and then she’ll offer a little play bow and give it a try, but she’s perfectly content being the quiet observer.

What breaks our hearts is that Lily has yet to have anyone show interest in her. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped, and we truly believe she deserves the opportunity to discover that life can be much more than simply watching it pass by from a kennel.

We would love to find Lily a rescue or home where she can have the time, patience, and one-on-one attention to truly come out of her shell. We think there is so much more to this sweet girl waiting to be discovered.

If your organization may be interested in Lily, please reach out. We are happy to provide her medical records, behavior notes, and any additional information you may need. We can also assist with transport within Maryland.

Thank you for considering Lily and for helping dogs like her find the second chance they deserve.

Best,

Caitlyn Pollock
