The European Union is no panacea for Britain’s problems.

In his recent essay on the Labour leadership, Tony Blair added as an aside that “Our relationship with Europe should be part of a comprehensive strategy for Britain’s future, and that doesn’t begin with Europe but here at home.” He helpfully goes on to list a range of policy issues from energy prices to cohesion, none of which have an EU solution.
