Ever put on an outfit that looks perfect on paper but feels completely wrong on you?
I’ve realized I’m really drawn to pieces that are considered classic, some might even call them preppy, but I don’t love wearing them in a perfectly polished way. I like things a little undone. A little relaxed. A little less expected.
When I first moved to Nashville back in 2011, I remember noticing how many women wore white jeans in the summer. They looked crisp, pulled together, and very done. And while I appreciated it, I also remember feeling like everyone wore them the same way. There wasn’t much variation. It felt like a uniform.
I think that’s what didn’t resonate with me. When everything in an outfit sits in the same lane, with the same tone, same level of polish, and same idea, it can start to feel a little too exact. A little too predictable.
I’ve realized I’m much more drawn to overlapping styles within one look.
