You might know frustrated friends trying to engage with a government headed in the wrong direction. Or, experienced advocates who want a resource to get others engaged. Maybe those sentences describe you? Invite friends and join me for my interview tomorrow!
I’ve learned a lot about being an author in the 2 1/2 years since I launched my first book, From Changing Diapers to Changing the World”, but I wasn’t ready for this surprise: Advocacy Made Easy became a Kindle Best Seller in three categories on Amazon before the launch?! The Kindle release happened early in a “technical launch” to make sure everything works behind the scenes before the main event, so it was sitting out there on its own for days. Then, Monday evening it jumped to the top of “Practical Politics,” “State and Local Government,” and “Public Affairs and Administration!”
Advocacy Made Easy is a slim 70-page handbook packed with step-by-step instructions for powerful actions to help you engage with elected officials. I’ve simplified advocacy into seven easy-to-follow actions. From mastering basic methods of communicating with elected officials to leading highly influential lobby meetings, every chapter gives readers tools to make an impact. I reached out to some of my favorite volunteer activists to present real-life stories and bring these methods to life.
Readers who got a look at my book during the pre-sale are already weighing in with their reviews:
“This is the book for anyone who has been frozen about what they can do in the current state of American politics. It’s not only a how-to, it’s also a “how-to not be intimidated” with amazing samples and anecdotes of impact.”
—Meghan Kotlanger
“If there were ever a book for these days, ADVOCACY MADE EASY is it. It is filled with practical tips and doable steps to help us find our power. As Ms. Levin says in her intro, there’s not a guarantee elected leader will listen and make requested change, but ‘there is a 100 percent change you won’t change anything if you only vent your frustrations with your friends.’”
—Deborah Reinhardt
“Inspiring and practical!! What a fantastic resource with a great mix of anecdotes and clear, succinct advice and instruction! This is a great how-to for people who are new to advocacy, and an ESSENTIAL back-pocket resource for organizers and those who coach others to become advocates too. Totally agree with the thesis that sometimes the barrier to action is a lack of clarity about what to do next — problem solved!”
—Sarah Borgstede
“Fearful, feeling helpless as my country goes off the rails — and I dread losing friends who disagree with my politics. Is there anything I can do to effect positive change? The author of this book clearly understands my hesitation — and she has clear, calm suggestions to empower me.”
—Cindy Petzholdt
