Heya! I’m now creating monthly posts for paid subscribers and this is one. Each month I’ll share what’s on my mind generally, what’s on my mind about tarot, and wrap up by pulling a card. I’ll continue to send out two free posts each month, as well. Thanks for being here!
There’s a song by Tori Amos that resonates with me lately. It’s called Oysters and these are some lyrics.
So can these shoes take me to
who I was before
I was stabbing my sticks into
a vulnerable earth…
Found a little patch of heaven now,
so then I’m gonna turn oysters in the sand
‘Cause I’m working my way back
I’m working my way back to me again.
Of course I don’t know what Ms. Amos intends this to mean, but here’s how it connects with me. I went through something incredibly difficult. I’m not who I was before. I’m accepting now that no shoes (metaphoric or literal) can take me to who I was before.
My specific circumstances are mine, but every human being goes through these kinds of soul-altering events. Things that shake you to your core. Tower coded experiences, I suppose. You might look the same and sound the same and other people treat you like you’re the same person, but you’re not.
