Make no mistake about it - becoming yourself is a destructive process.

This morning I found myself pondering a quote I’ve heard often, in fragments, over many years. If you’re a spiritual seeker it’s likely you’ve come across this one in your travels:

More than once, during a challenging moment, as I attempt to deepen into a greater aspect of my true self, I have found myself mentally replacing the word ‘enlightenment’ with ‘becoming yourself’:

“Make no mistake about it – becoming yourself is a destructive process...”

And while I do think that becoming yourself does lead to becoming a better human and can cause us to be happier more often, I also think that becoming yourself does require “the crumbling away of untruth”. That it demands of us to see “through the façade of pretense” and that, for some people, it will lead to the near- ”complete eradication of everything we imagined to be true.”

For those of you who are actively playing with Human Design and wish to actually live your design as opposed to just learn about the system, you too will have likely had ‘challenging’ moments along the way.

Whether you notice your unproductive behaviours or unhelpful beliefs or are simply trying to maintain your existing relationships with loved ones when you’re changing so much, it can be tough, and I just want to acknowledge that.

I think it is so easy to get wowed by the Human Design system and see all the shiny possibilities of what it could be like to ‘live into your potential’. But not enough people are talking about the ‘how’:

How the hell do you actually live this stuff?

How do you navigate the emotions that rapidly rise to the surface, often without any warning, announcing how impossibly difficult this can be?

How do you change lifetimes of beliefs and behaviours that form the very identity you are known for?

This is what I’ve been obsessed with understanding for the last decade. That’s why I know that it’s essential to pair Human Design with an effective deconditioning tool because we each hold several decades of our own ‘stuff’ that, oftentimes, is not aligned with our (energetic) design.

Another quote springs to mind as I go to wrap up this post:

Hopefully, you have some tools to help you when your emotions feel hellishly hard. (If you don’t, comment on this post or reply to this email—if you have one of those options—and ask me what I recommend.)

But as long as you have a way to ‘feel the feelings’ and move through them, make sure you do. Because the way through it is through it.

And it gets easier the more you practise.

With love,

Caroline.
