Your fingers wrap around it anyway. You unlock it. The screen lights up.
And for a second, you don’t know why you picked it up.
No message you’re waiting for. No thing you need to check.
You scroll.
Nothing really lands. Nothing holds.
There’s a moment where you almost put it down.
But then you keep going. Just a bit longer.
And somewhere in that, you notice it.
Not the phone. Not what you’re looking at.
The movement itself.
The way it keeps going without you fully in it.
You stop scrolling.
Not because you decided to. Just… it pauses.
The screen is still. Your hand is still holding it.
That slight pull forward. The reaching.
Your thumb rests on the screen.
You could keep going. You could put it down.
Both are right there.
And for a moment, you don’t move.
You just feel that you’re here. Holding it.
Not quite needing it. And not quite letting it go.
