Right before you move past it

There’s a moment where you notice something…

and then move past it.

Not because it wasn’t clear.

Because it was.

Too clear, maybe.

It shows up in small ways.

A sentence that almost comes out differently…
and then doesn’t.

A feeling in your chest that you register…
and then explain.

A pause that opens…
and then gets filled.

You don’t do it dramatically.

You don’t even think of it as avoidance.

It’s subtle.

Automatic.

Almost invisible.

You stay close to yourself.

Closer than most people do.

You can describe what’s happening.

You can name patterns.
See connections.
Understand why something feels the way it does.

And still…

there’s something just underneath that never quite gets touched.

Not because it’s hidden.

Because something in you keeps moving at the exact moment it becomes reachable.

It doesn’t feel like leaving.

It feels like continuing.

Like staying engaged.

Like doing the work.

But there’s a difference between:

being near something
and being inside it

And you can feel that difference.

Even if you’ve never named it that way.

Sometimes it shows up as a kind of repetition.

You arrive at the same place… again.

Different context.
Different story.

Same edge.

You can feel where it is.

You can almost stay with it.

And then something in you shifts.

Just slightly.

Enough to keep moving.

There’s no obvious reason to stop doing that.

It works.

It keeps things manageable.

It keeps you functional.

It keeps you from getting pulled into something that doesn’t have a clear shape.

But there are moments where you notice it more clearly.

Not as a problem.

Just as something that’s happening.

A kind of turning.

Right at the point where something real could be felt… without being organized.

You don’t need to fix that.

Or understand it better.

Or try to hold yourself there.

That just becomes another way of doing the same thing.

But you can notice it.

Not after.

While it’s happening.

The exact moment something in you begins to move away.

Before it completes.

There’s a different kind of contact there.

Not something you create.

Something that’s already there…

if you don’t move.

Most people don’t stay for that.

Not because they can’t.

Because nothing in their world asks them to.
