The conversation slows down.
One reply gets shorter.
Then another.
And then nothing.
Not clearly over.
Just… no new message appears.
You look at the screen again anyway.
Not because you expect something important.
Just to check.
The thread is still there.
Your last message sitting at the bottom.
You read it again.
Not fully on purpose.
Your eyes just move over it.
There’s a small feeling in your body that’s hard to place.
Not rejection.
Not anxiety exactly.
Just… the absence of movement where movement had been.
A minute ago, something was happening between you and someone else.
Now the space has gone still.
You keep the thread open a little longer.
Even while doing other things.
Your attention stays partly there.
Like something in you hasn’t fully left yet.
You notice the urge to send something else.
Not another conversation.
Just a small continuation.
A reaction.
A clarification.
One more thread to hold onto.
But you don’t.
The screen stays quiet.
And slowly, you start feeling the moment after.
Not the conversation itself.
The part where there’s nothing left to respond to.
Nothing to shape.
Nothing coming toward you.
Just the room around you.
Your body in the chair.
The phone still in your hand.
And that strange feeling of contact disappearing while you’re still turned toward it.
