On Saturday, April 5 at 3PM, we’re gathering at the London Nelson Community Center in Santa Cruz to raise our voices against the dangerous expansion of lithium battery storage facilities in our region — and we want you with us.
The Vistra Corp facility in Moss Landing has already caused multiple fires and endangered surrounding neighborhoods. Now, similar battery storage projects are being proposed for Santa Cruz and Watsonville, putting even more lives at risk — with no meaningful community input and little accountability from elected officials.
This isn’t just about fire safety. It’s about corporate greed, environmental racism, and a system that puts profits over people. It’s about how working-class, rural, and brown communities are treated as sacrifice zones.
We’re coming together to say: No more silent harm. No more rubber-stamped permits. No more lies.
Come hear from grassroots leaders, organizers, and candidates fighting for a different future — one where environmental justice isn’t optional.
📍 Where: London Nelson Community Center, 301 Center Street, Santa Cruz
📆 When: Saturday, April 5 at 3:00 PM
Featured Speakers Include:
Butch Ware, Candidate for California Governor
Sean Dougherty, CA-19 Congressional Candidate
Gabriel Medina, PVUSD School Board Trustee
Brian Roeder, Never Again Moss Landing
LeVonne Stone, Executive Director, Fort Ord Environmental Justice Network
This rally is about community power. It’s about standing together to demand real safety — not just for today, but for future generations. Bring your signs, your voice, your friends and family. We need all of us.
Let’s show the corporations and the politicians that we are watching — and we are organizing.
Together, we can stop these fires before they start!
In solidarity,
Green Party of California
