I live nearby the forest in the countryside and often visit different forests. I am not that found of summertime though, so I often visit in spring, autumn or winter. I find the forest more interesting then and the light is more workable. You can also find nice details of nature in the forest and they always catch my eye.
I like to work with both color and monochrome when working with forest photography. Everything depends on what I want to viewer to experience the photo. Sometimes the black & white contrast makes the photo more aesthetic and clean and sometimes the color photos survey the true mood of the forest. I sometimes also work with monochrome toning to get a more artsy photo, I think.
