Hi Haystackers,
I am currently restricted from accessing Burned Haystack Dating Method on Facebook. I can access the group partially on my phone, but with very limited functionality. I’m locked out completely on the web, which is the access I need to admin and moderate.
I don’t know the reason for the restriction (you can’t talk to anyone at Meta, even if you have a group of over a quarter of a million people, which strikes me as a WILD business decision, but whatever). I am very fortunate to have the social media team at HarperCollins also working on this on my behalf. I have filed a report, and so has HarperCollins.
Right now, Facebook is saying that I am out until July 29 of this year and that the group may be maintained through July (it didn’t give an exact date on that).
I don’t know whether the group will be taken down completely. I do know that serious sanctions against the primary admin, which is what’s happening here, are a primary cause of group takedown.
I was in the group this morning and there were no concerns—no moderation alerts, no major scam or spam attacks that I’m aware of, and nothing “happened.” The only thing I posted was a welcome post, very similar to the type of welcome post I put up nearly every day, and then I was out. The only thing I can think of is that the post included a “block to burn” joke, which I make all the time and have for years, but I don’t know if an AI bot suddenly flagged that as inciting violence or something.
Anyway, I just wanted to fill you all in, and I’ll update as I know more.
~Jennie
