Everywhere I Go I See You: Flowers!!!

Continuing along in the vein of the many ways in which God reveals Himself to us, I come to another one of my favorites. God reveals Himself in so very many ways in nature, but another one of my favorites is through flowers. Once again, we come to the beauty and variety and intricacy of God’s creation!

The bird of paradise is certainly one of my favorite flowers. It is interesting that, in April 2010, while I was on a mission trip to Costa Rica, God called me to go to Guatemala. Then, through a crazy number of amazing connections, I ended up in San Juan, Guatemala, which is in the Sacatepéquez Province. San Juan is up in the mountains a bit, and it is known for its flowers and its furniture. The picture of the bird of paradise at the beginning of this blog post was taken on my first trip to Guatemala. One of the amazing things about Iglesia Monte Shama in San Juan is that each Saturday, a good number of the women of the church gather there and make about 50 or so flower arrangements, which go across the front of the sanctuary. One Sunday while I was there, they made all of the arrangements from bird-of-paradise flowers. That was a glorious blessing for me!

I also love roses, and I am amazed at all the varieties of roses. One of the most beautiful garden settings on earth is at Butchart Gardens, just outside of Victoria, British Columbia. They have an amazing variety of roses. Also, in San Diego, at Balboa Park, they have a flower garden that is pretty amazing. The picture of the flower below was taken at Balboa Park.
