I See You!

For the time being, this will be my last “Everywhere I Go I See You” blog post, and I have most certainly saved the best for last!

In the last few blog posts, I have written about how I see God in so many aspects of His creation. I have written these posts to encourage myself, and hopefully you as well, to keep the eyes of your heart open and allow God to reveal Himself in the beauty and the glory of His creation. I have written about birds and sunrises and sunsets and about flowers, but today I want to write about smiles. I love smiles, and I see God in beautiful, happy smiles, and I especially see God in my wife Debi’s smile!

The picture at the beginning of this blog was taken when we lived in Centerville, TX, and for me it captures so much of Debi’s expressive personality. She is a precious, beautiful woman! In her smile, and in that beauty, I see God. I also see God’s amazing provision in my life. She is a wonderful wife and an amazing mother, and I am so thankful to God for bringing us together!

The picture here in the middle of the blog was taken in Vail, CO, and I love it because of the beauty of Debi’s smile and also because I love Christmas lights, so this picture combines two of my favorite things. God is so good!

The picture of Debi that concludes this blog post was taken in Alberta, Canada, on our 40th anniversary trip to Banff, Alberta, Canada. Debi and I love to travel, and it was such a blessing to go to Banff for our 40th anniversary! I see God’s provision in this picture in so many ways, and I know that I am a blessed man. This picture has layers of blessings.

One of the wonderful aspects of Debi’s smile being one of the ways in which I see God and His hand of love and grace and provision is that I get to see her almost every day of my life, and a good portion of the time she is smiling.

Recently, we had our two granddaughters over to spend the night with us, and it was about 8:40 when Debi began putting them to bed. Usually, that process begins around 8:00 for them, but they were at Mimi and Pops’, so they stayed up a little later than usual. I expected that Debi would be down a little after 9:00, but it got to be 9:15 and then 9:20 and then 9:25, and I began to wonder if Debi had fallen asleep with them while putting them to bed.

Finally, a little after 9:30, Debi came downstairs, and she was smiling to the point that she was glowing. I asked her what had taken so long, and she said that the granddaughters (Logan and Kollins) had asked her if she would stay up with them and “chat.” They told her that they just love to chat. Debi looked at me and smiled a glowing smile and said, “My heart is just so full right now!”

God, everywhere I go I see You! I am a blessed man, and I know that I am blessed to be a blessing. I am so thankful for God blessing my life with Debi and her smile and her love for the Lord and her love for our family!
