We’ve grown accustomed to octogenarian rock stars; this past weekend, Mick Jagger turned 83.
The very thought feels both miraculous and preposterous. It’s also a reminder of a time when many musicians of that generation—the hard-living rock & roll one—didn’t seem as if they’d make it past their forties. And I was once fortunate, or not, to observe those concerns up close.
