Before reading, consider a donation to this fundraiser by the organization Kherson Help. They are constantly collecting donations for drone detectors to be used by the people of Kherson. These are vital systems, as the detectors allow civilians to take life-saving action to avoid being struck by Russian drone operators. Each detector is roughly $175 USD or 150 Euro. Let’s help save lives by donating to this campaign

On 01 June, local volunteer Andry “Boxer” witnessed a Russian FPV strike on a civilian man, who was waiting at a public bus stop with his bicycle in the riverside village of Shyroka Balka. The 64-year-old man died from shrapnel piercing his heart.

03 June was by far the worst day of the week. The day began with drone attacks on one of the city’s medical facilities.

Video: Yaroslav Shanko

About 5 in the morning. A time when most people are still sleeping. But for Kherson, this has once again become the time of another Russian attack. This time, an enemy drone hit one of the departments of a medical facility in the Dnieper district of the city. A fire broke out. The place where people are treated, supported, and saved every day was on fire.

This is the cynicism of the Russian war. It’s not military targets that are under attack, but hospitals, residential buildings, public transport, and civilian infrastructure. Everything that sustains the life of a frontline city. Rescuers from the State Emergency Service extinguished the fire under the threat of another Russian attack.

Fortunately, this time there were no casualties. But the very fact of an attack on a medical facility is another indication that Russia is deliberately violating the norms of international humanitarian law and continues to terrorize the peaceful population of Kherson.

Throughout the day, Russian drones attacked an apartment building in Dniprovskyi Raion dozens of times, setting the building aflame and causing a mass casualty event. Throughout Dniprovskyi Raion, Russian drones killed 7 civilians and wounded 17 more.

At least 5 residents, ages 70-86, of the apartment building were killed. Andry and his crew recovered what little remained of the elderly who were reportedly burned alive in their apartments due to the flames ignited by the waves of drone attacks on the building.

Kherson. 06/3/2026 The enemy burns people alive in their homes…

Russian forces struck deep into Kherson Oblast with a Shahed UAV, destroying the equipment of a paving company in Arkhanhelske in Beryslav Raion. However, with the frenzied reporting of Ukrainian middle strike capabilities, many accounts in the pro-Ukraine NAFO-sphere shared the video uncritically claiming that these were Russian vehicles destroyed by Ukrainian strikes. However, video proof of the strike was published by the Russian 49th Combined Arms Army’s official Telegram channel making fun of the pro-Ukraine movement’s susceptibility to misinformation.

Video: 49th Combined Arms Army

“How the Ukrainians are passing off their failures as victories 🤣

They started publishing videos of burnt military equipment in the Beryslav district, and talking about how the ZSU are taking fire control of the road to Crimea.

But there’s a tiny little detail🤏. This military equipment was burned by our drone operators, and they’re keeping the Banderivtsi on a short leash🔥”

The pro-Ukraine sphere on social media is in the midst of an epistemic crisis. It has given too much control of narrative and truth to large accounts that are not run by informed experts — they are run by profit-motivated engagement-baiting individuals. Here is just one example of such an account with almost 350,000 followers that constantly spreads this kind of misinformation, MAKS26.

Our own blindness to the truth and susceptibility to cult-like psychological phenomena are major weaknesses that can be exploited by detractors of the pro-Ukrainian cause and by Russians themselves.

Two days later, a Russian Shahed UAV struck an OKKO gas station in Posad-Pokrovske, a town on the Mykolaiv-Kherson Oblast border. A 35-year-old female gas station employee was killed and at least 8 more civilians were wounded. A ninth wounded civilian, a 61-year-old man, died in hospital from the severity of his injuries on 10 June.

Two days later, Patrol Police released bodycam footage of officers administering first aid and evacuating victims from the scene.

On the same day, a Russian drone attacked three Red Cross medical vehicles in the town of Chornobaiivka, north of the city. A 50-year-old male Red Cross volunteer was wounded as a result of the strike.

On 06 June, a vehicle belonging to the humanitarian organization, Peaceful Skies of Kharkiv, was struck by a Russian FPV drone in Komyshany. A 70-year-old woman was reported as wounded by a drone attack in Komyshany on that day – potentially one of the victims of this attack. The attack was later published by Russian propagandist Osvedomitell Alex.

⚠️ Today, June 6th, during the evacuation of the civilian population in Kherson region, our volunteer was attacked by an enemy drone.

🚑 As a result of the attack, there are victims who are currently in the hospital.

This case is another evidence that humanitarian activities in frontline communities are carried out in conditions of constant danger.

❗ According to the norms of international humanitarian law, in particular the Geneva Conventions, civilians and personnel involved in humanitarian missions and population evacuation are under protection. Attacks on them are a violation of international humanitarian law.

We are currently awaiting additional information on the condition of the victims and the consequences of the attack.

“Kherson. Red Zone.

Dual-purpose transport.

Komyshany settlement. The Unmanned Systems Battalion of the 18th CAA of the Army Group “Dnepr” destroyed a Ukrainian Armed Forces car. An exact hit from the FPV - minus one enemy “carriage”. Now you’ll be walking on foot, Perushki.

The Red Zone is slowly but surely moving north, any equipment is a legitimate target, any movement of live forces on the ground will be suppressed. The city will be slowly cleared.”

Video: 39th Marine Brigade

The 39th Marine Brigade, long responsible for holding the line along the Dnipro in Beryslav Raion, has left Kherson Oblast to participate in combat actions along another of Ukraine’s rivers, the Oskil. The 39th confirmed their redeployment to the Kupiansk Direction in Kharkiv Oblast in a post on 05 June of their Bears UAV Battalion carrying out strikes.

The “Bears” drone battalion officially opens the score of hits on the 39th Marine Brigade in the Kupyansk direction 🐻

The brigade has expanded its radio horizon to one of the hottest frontline areas in Kharkiv region. And it’s already making the enemy understand that they have no chance of success either in offensives or in defense, because forests, as we all know, are the domain of bears.

Traditionally, the targets are transport routes and the occupiers’ network of fortifications. There’s no way to escape or hide from the marines 😈

Further evidence of the Brigade’s redeployment emerged on 09 June, when the Brigade’s air defense division “Vidsich” confirmed they too were now operating in the skies over the Oskil.

Video: 39th Marine Brigade

2️⃣5️⃣4️⃣ - Downing enemy drones in May! 💪 Now also in Kup’yansk! 🫡

Unfortunately, this movement indicates that Ukraine is losing one of its most capable units in the Kherson Direction. Recall that the 39th was previously the 126th Territorial Defense Brigade and had been operational in the Kherson Direction since at least late 2024. However, it seems Ukraine is moving the brigade in order to rotate depleted units out of the Kupiansk Direction, namely the 144th Separate Mechanized Brigade. A member of the OSINT ORBAT group, War Unit Observer, confirmed to me that they had already observed a KIA report of a Ukrainian serviceman from the 144th in the town of Vesele, Beryslav Raion, Kherson Oblast.

As of writing no footage has emerged showing the 144th operating in the area, so more remains to be seen as to how the new unit handles operating in the drone-saturated skies of Kherson Oblast, especially since Russian drones are being used in record numbers in their new area of operations.

In the early hours of 08 June, the infamous Ukrainian partisan channel, ATESH, who operate both in occupied territory and on the territory of Russia proper, posted an important update for those following combat deployments in this direction. According to the group, the 337th Guards Air Assault Regiment of the 104th VDV Division has vacated the Kinburn Peninsula some time in the past week.

Personally, I saw this as only a matter of time, as the entirety of the 104th Division was pulled away from Kherson Oblast almost a year ago at this point to participate in frontline combat operations in the Kamyanske Direction, south of Zaporizhzhia city. However, this may not be purely the result of the regiment rejoining its parent unit for assault operations.

With Ukraine’s constantly maturing middle strike UAS capabilities, the regiment may have been forced to withdraw from the Peninsula as a direct result of logistics strains and major attrition of its personnel.

“...the AFU’s actions to cut supply routes have forced the occupiers to hastily evacuate the Kinburn Spit.

Units of the 337th Regiment are abandoning their positions—supply has been completely disrupted. The delivery of ammunition, fuel, and food has ceased.

Due to significant personnel losses, units of the 337th Regiment are being withdrawn from the shoreline—from the northern and western parts of the spit. Fire teams are unable to cope with the downing of SDU UAVs, and losses continue to mount.

After some troops were redeployed to the Zaporizhzhia sector, the remaining units are virtually depleted. Replenishment has not been carried out even once.

Command is withdrawing personnel from some positions and redeploying them to others. Only the remnants of units, no longer capable of holding the defense, remain on the spit.

The occupiers’ logistics system in this area has completely collapsed.

ATESH

ATESH is typically reliable, and I am inclined to believe the report, but I do want to exercise caution at this moment because I believe more time is necessary to truly see the compounded effects of Ukraine’s middle strike campaign in the South. The whole point of Ukraine’s growing middle strike campaign is to degrade logistics and create compounding effects over a long period of time. The middle strike campaign has yet to reach its peak and we are only now just seeing in the last two to three weeks serious interdiction of Russian logistical routes responsible for resupplying Crimea and the southern occupied territories.

On the other hand, we have documented since early 2025 how Russian logistics along the occupied Left Bank of the Dnipro River were turned into “Roads of Death” along which the 104th’s elements were operating. Given the challenging geography of the Kinburn Peninsula, a long thin strip of land only resupplied via a natural chokepoint between Heroiske and Ivanivka, the logistical situation for the 337th Regiment may truly be dire.

One area of observation that helps gauge drone operations originating from the Kinburn Peninsula are the drone attacks reported by Mykolaiv Oblast Head Vitaliy Kim. One thing that gives me pause in saying that the 337th has left Kinburn is the continuation of drone attacks in and around Ochakivska, Kutsurubska, and Halyntsivska hromadas in southern Mykolaiv Oblast.

On 06 June, the area saw at least two drone casualties. Casualties from drone attacks in the area are extremely rare compared to anywhere in Kherson, but that day, Russian drones wounded a 64-year-old man in Dmytrivka and a 23-year-old man in Lupareve. FPV and Molniya attacks continued in the area until 09 June, when no significant combat actions were recorded by officials, but they resumed in the days after.

If the regiment has indeed left and the logistics routes have collapsed, I would expect the reports to dwindle as Russian drone units run out of ammunition, fuel, and food. More updates on the middle strike campaign to follow next week.

I’ve updated the C-UAS database with ten weeks of published data released by Kherson ODA Head Oleksandr Prokudin. Prokudin did not post any data for the weeks of 27 April-03 May and 25-31 May, so there are some gaps. Interestingly, Prokudin began publishing the number of Shahed drones intercepted this week, so we may have a new category of analysis going forward.

Russian drone attacks hit an all-time high this past week with 5640 total drone attacks reported by Oleksandr Prokudin – almost 2000 more attacks than two weeks prior (3716). In the past 73 weeks, Russian forces have carried out at least 168,633 drone attacks in Kherson Oblast.

Ukrainian C-UAS operations intercepted 93% of Russian drone attacks this past week, maintaining their interception rate from two weeks prior. This was primarily driven by the level of effectiveness in the areas outside the city. Inside Khersonska Urban Hromada, interception rates decreased from 93% to just 90%. In the surrounding communities, interception rates increased from 93% to 94%.

Russian attacks on Khersonska Urban Hromada fell by over 450 in the past two weeks, with Russian forces conducting 1562 drone attacks this week, compared to 2009 two weeks before. Russian forces attacking outside the city conducted more than 2000 more attacks (4078) than two weeks ago (1707).

Successful Russian drone attacks in Kherson Oblast increased by almost 150 — from 242 two weeks ago to 389 this week. Successful Russian drone attacks outside Kherson city increased as well — from 113 two weeks ago to 244 this week. Inside the city, successful attacks rose from 129 last week to 145 this week — the third highest since January 2026.

Russian shelling has killed 309 and wounded 2632 civilians. Russian landmines and UXO have killed 10 and wounded 86 civilians. Russian Geran and Shahed-style drone attacks have killed 2 and wounded 15 civilians.

In Beryslav Raion, 135 civilians have been killed and 715 have been wounded. Russian drone attacks have killed 91 and wounded 475 civilians. Russian shelling has killed 35 and wounded 154 civilians. Russian landmines and UXO have killed 7 and wounded 79 civilians. Russian Geran and Shahed-style drones have wounded 2 civilians. Other unspecific Russian military actions have resulted in 2 civilian deaths and 5 wounded civilians in Beryslav Raion.

Human Safari drone attacks have killed 339 people and wounded 3245 more across Kherson Oblast in over two years.
