The month of July has truly been about two main issues - standing with working families and utility ratepayers in and around my district, and fighting against the culture of corruption in Springfield.
Whether it’s calling for the State to stop these power plant closures, working to keep jobs in Illinois, fighting for transparency, or bringing accountability to Springfield - I am honored to do this work on behalf of the folks in the 107th district.

Standing With Kincaid Power Plant and Small Town Jobs
Just a few days ago, I traveled to Kincaid Power Plant to once again highlight another scheduled closure due to Illinois’ Green New Deal. This power plant generates electricity for thousands of area homes and businesses - something that solar cannot do without covering up thousands of acres of farm ground.
These closures have got to stop - the Democrats need to listen to other stakeholders beyond their green god worshiping climate change activists. If they refuse to change course and stop these closures, we will continue to see exponential utility bill increases.

Chicago Tribune Editorial Board Weighs In On “New Illinois”
Speaker Welch Is In Hot Water After Resignations, Indictments, Sexual Harassment and More!

Following the resignation of former State Representative Harry Benton, the Chicago Tribune is reporting a young female staffer came to Speaker Chris Welch’s office in 2023 to report harassment allegations against Benton. According to the Tribune, the Speaker’s office slow-walked the case and failed to reprimand former Rep. Benton. Another cover-up for Speaker Welch, following a playbook that is all too familiar.
In April of this year, when asked whether former State Representative Harry Benton should resign, Speaker Welch said, “We also have to talk about victims. We’re gonna respect victims.”
His remarks are a complete contradiction from his actions in 2023.
Key excerpts from the Chicago Tribune story:
“That’s when a young female Benton staffer — one of his first hires whose interactions with the lawmaker were part of the investigation — outlined a lengthy series of harassment allegations, many of a sexual nature, to Welch’s office.”
“Back then, the speaker’s office slow-walked the case after the woman reported the harassment allegations to the speaker’s then-chief of staff in April 2023, the Tribune found.”
“Benton wasn’t interviewed by the speaker’s top staff until three months later, in July 2023, according to calendar records obtained by the Tribune. That was after the woman had already quit her job, saying she feared for her mental health. According to the former staffer, Benton was not disciplined at the time.”
And if this didn’t go far enough, the Tribune found out that: “Welch himself responded to social media posts by the former Benton staffer — who had previously interned in the speaker’s office — in ways she told the Tribune made her ‘uncomfortable.’”
For Speaker Welch, cover-ups and intimidation are all too familiar from his days of carrying water for disgraced former Speaker Michael Madigan. Welch ended the Special Investigating Committee into Madigan, going so far as to call it a “sham” and a “show trial.”
House Democrats continue to descend into complete disarray as Rep. Carol Ammons faces federal indictment, former Rep. Harry Benton resigned in disgrace, and now Speaker Welch’s office stands accused of attempting to cover up allegations against Benton in 2023.
I filed a petition to create a Special Investigating Committee into the conduct that led to Rep. Carol Ammons’ indictment and have repeatedly called for the full Benton report to be released so Illinoisans can know exactly what happened.
This week, the Legislative Ethics Commission voted to move forward with releasing the report. More to come on this soon!
Federal Judge Blocks Pritzker Deal To Give In State Tuition To Illegal Immigrants
I was proud to fight against this legislation in the House!
Taxpayers and Citizens are FED UP - and rightfully so. They are tired of paying for healthcare, housing, legal fees, transportation and more for criminal illegal aliens. But, do the Democrats care about their grievances? No. They keep trying to give illegals MORE on the state’s dime. This past spring, that came in the form of in-state tuition deals for illegals. Many of my colleagues and I fought against this bill, warning that it should be challenged in the courts.
Well this week, a federal judge agreed and blocked the law from taking effect.
“Benefits to illegals that are not similarly given to citizens are being litigated around the country.
Last September the U.S. Department of Justice sued Illinois and this week, ”U.S. District Judge Stephen McGlynn, a Trump appointee serving in the Southern District of Illinois, sided with the Justice Department, ruling that Illinois’ in-state tuition policies, the RISE Act and the Illinois DREAM Act are “unconstitutional and invalid” as they apply to illegal immigrants,” according to a FOX News article. Illinois is not the only state for which the DOJ is suing them over this benefit.
Despite, knowing that in-state tuition was being litigated, just this year, an additional provision was added to law doubling down on giving illegal immigrants in-state tuition in Illinois. The law extends the benefit to illegals that are not necessarily Illinois residents anymore but had graduated from an Illinois high school. “ - Breakthrough Ideas
