Often times people think there is nothing a super-minority Republican can do in Springfield. Well, events like this past week show that is not the case. This week, following my scrutiny in appropriations hearings, we found out Illinois’ DEI director resigned, likely by request. Her and her commission’s failures were embarrassing, and a stain on the Governor’s record - that’s why it was so important for Republicans to expose her.
Further, myself and other Republican colleagues filed a petition requiring the House to investigate Democrat Rep. Carol Ammons who was Indicted on federal charges for fraud.
Accountability matters, and so does transparency. While we don’t have the majority in Springfield, we do have the power to do right by taxpayers - and that requires being loud and bold about ethics, morals, and the rule of law.

Last week I was honored to attend the Farm Talk event sponsored by the Champaign County Farm Bureau. This event connected farmers, local leaders, and state leadership to discuss important issues facing the agriculture industry. Pictured to my right, Illinois Farm Bureau President Phil Nelson.
“Illinois families pay the highest property taxes in the nation, and the burden keeps getting heavier,” said Halbrook. “Property taxes are making it harder for families to stay in their homes, for farmers to stay competitive, and for businesses to grow. I want to hear directly from the people who are living with these challenges every day.”
You may remember a few months ago I called for increased oversight after the Commission on Equity and Inclusion was exposed as a complete and total failure. The commission (with a $5 million + budget) botched a software change that resulted in nearly half of the state’s vendors being kicked off the rolls.
When I questioned their staff in committee, all we heard were excuses, DEI language, and empty promises. Even the Democrats on that committee were not too happy.
Fast forward a few weeks later- their Director, Ms. Wilson, quietly resigned and was later given a lateral move to the Illinois Power Agency.
In 2025, 20-year-old Katie Abraham and another young woman were killed in a crash with a drunk driver in Urbana – a Guatemalan illegal immigrant who had false documents and was issued a driver's license. This has now happened multiple times where evidence shows violent accidents have been caused by illegals driving on valid licenses, many unable to speak English.
The disgusting, embarrassing, failed Secretary of State, who is rumored to be running for Mayor of Chicago, says the evidence presented by Katie’s dad is a lie. Illinois’ Secretary of State believes Illegal Immigrants over grieving fathers. Insane.
