The Big Picture No. 100
Since we’re at number 100 I thought it would be a good time to talk about the positioning work we’ve been doing with our long time collaborator Tim Hillegonds. There’s a lot to unpack from this work but one of the central things that has come out of this is clarity around the work we do and how we think about it. “Core values”, whatever you want to call them. Things we believe strongly about. A lot of businesses know this stuff intuitively but it often doesn’t get set down. In our first year as an independent brand design firm, having these beliefs set down has mattered more than we expected.
The part of running a business that necessitates having a voice and a strong POV and expressing it consistently: to remind the world we exist, why we exist, what we stand for, what we’re the best at. This conviction is born out of these beliefs:
Good design feels inevitable—unexpected in its insight, inevitable in its logic.
Design should make meaning obvious, not make people work to understand it.
Speed matters when it creates momentum—not when it cuts corners.
Ambitious teams deserve design partners who can think and execute in the same breath.
Design builds trust by aligning what a company believes with how the world experiences it.
A strong unified brand is not polish; it is leverage.
An older Omakase but one that recently launched. Our good friend Luke Maloney is a legit sales guru. We were lucky enough to do some coaching with Luke and it completely rewired our brains about the selling process. Recently Luke joined forces with a couple of other sales veterans to create Repeatability, a sales recruitment and training consultancy.
If you're a startup looking to build out your sales team or your sales motion, these guys are the best of the best.
Beyond the Omakase brand we also created a Framer website and a variety of collateral to help them launch.
