Halfway through the quarter

We’re halfway through the last full fundraising quarter before the general election. Let me explain what that means for our campaign.

Every three months, federal campaigns like mine are required by the Federal Election Commission to report our fundraising numbers. The last deadline was at the end of June. The next one is at the end of September.

National pundits use these reports to show how much money my campaign is bringing in, and to compare our fundraising to my opponent’s.

After I filed my most recent report, I got some major news: for the very first time since I launched this campaign, I outraised Monica De La Cruz.

But here’s the thing: De La Cruz still has more cash in her campaign account than we do. $2.5 million.

With a new poll showing us ahead by six points, she’s going to spend every last penny of that $2.5 million trying to close in on our lead.

This final full quarter is our last real shot at taking the cash advantage. This is a highly competitive race. It’s the one that could decide control of the House this November.

So there’s going to be a lot of outside noise trying to drown out what we’ve built here in South Texas.
