Big Bend National Park is one of the most beautiful, sacred, and irreplaceable places in Texas.
The Trump administration just sent bulldozers to tear through it.
What is happening at Big Bend National Park is a destructive attack on what’s left of the great American frontier.
But it doesn’t stop at Big Bend.
Across South Texas, the Trump administration is walling off some of our most treasured places, including parts of the Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge and even the historic Eli Jackson Cemetery.
This is hitting our communities hard here in the district.
Actual border security comes from effective legislation, modern technology, and the right infrastructuring. Recklessly throwing up walls wherever they can isn’t that.
We still haven’t seen the kind of serious border policy Texans deserve.
When you’re willing to bulldoze through a national park, a wildlife refuge, or a historic cemetery to make a political point, you’ve totally lost sight of what you’re supposed to be protecting.
Big Bend, the Lower Rio Grande Valley, and so many other treasured spots across South Texas belong to the American people. Our responsibility is to protect them and preserve them for our children and grandchildren.
I believe in securing our border the right way. That is absolutely NOT by destroying our land and our history.
