Bob · Bob’s Daily Morning Gratitude Substack

Morning has arrived. I am dressed, coffee in hand, meditation finished—yet I sit down at my keyboard feeling completely unmotivated. What a lack of initiative. The physical pain is no worse than most mornings, the weather is agreeable, and I have good Friday plans on the horizon. Still, I find myself feeling blue. I gently remind myself: Life is Good.

Immediately after writing that, I decided to return to my meditation cushion for an extended session, focusing on self-compassion: “May I be safe, happy, healthy, and live with ease.” Returning to the keyboard now, I feel lighter and more at peace, even if I still lack a spark of bounce or excitement for the day ahead. Digging a little deeper, I remind myself that I have everything I need in this exact moment. I give myself permission to feel low motivation, and I practice gratitude for all that surrounds me.

After making a second cup of coffee with some toast, I forced a small smile, enjoyed the simple bounty, and eased into a work project. Meditation, self-talk, and gratitude don’t always create a sudden burst of energy, but they realign my perspective and return me to the flow of life. It might only be a trickling stream today, but I am moving with it in a generous universe.

Namaste, my friends. May you find your own life-giving flow today and every day.
