Hi!

How are you today?

Today, I am inspired to share one of my favorite Oracle cards and herbs for the Cancer Season. The Great Mother is the Ancient archetype we can play with during this time of deep nourishment and introspection. The water element connects us to our emotions and invites us back to our emotional bodies. Instead of thinking our way through life, it is easy to be disconnected from feeling our way through situations. We can listen to the important messages our bodies receive. These messages inform us about our connections, boundaries, sympathy, and compassion. There are many heart-opening teas, tinctures, and drinks to facilitate this softening and listening. I love incorporating cacao, rose, chamomile, mugwort, and many others to support me.

Motherwort takes an important role in my daily life and ritual practice. Motherwort, or Leonorus Cardiaca, is the “lionhearted” herb for strength. The herb’s traditional use is as a physical and emotional heart tonic. There is a long history of motherwort in Asian and European cultures, where it has been used to support mothers and women. This week, I snipped the large stalks blooming out back and laid them on drying racks for various uses.

  • Bundle stalks to hang over the doorway in the bedroom for protection.

  • Create a smudge stick for incense

  • Dried leaves added to make a bitter tincture.

On the last sunny day, I carefully collected the delicate, pink flowers for a flower essence.

This sweet card sits on my altar in my sacred space on the porch. As I light my candle, the pink is illuminated, and the tiny heart calls to me.

The Herbal Astrology Oracle by Adriana Ayales

I bought the Herbal Astrology Oracle deck along with the Intuition and Prosperity ritual candles at the beginning of the year. The candles smell amazing, and I lit them during special occasions and workshops. One prosperity candle remains to inspire my wild, magical projects.

  • How can you slow down in order to listen to the wisdom of your feelings?

  • What does it look like to deeply nourish and care for yourself right now?

My heart is full as I prepare to travel to Minnesota for my nephew’s wedding. My family is gathering from all over the country to connect and celebrate this occasion. The outdoor wedding will take place at Redeemed Farm outside of Stillwater, Minnesota. My sister-in-law is treating my sisters and Mother to a hair-and-makeup date at a spa. What a luxury, as I rarely do more than run my fingers through my hair.

There will be plenty of time to relax, reconnect, and create new memories together. Tucked into my traveling sacred space make-up bag will be my motherwort flower essence. It will serve as an important reminder to maintain healthy boundaries and courageously speak my truth. It is easy to lose myself when surrounded by family. The old patterns and relationship dynamics take over, and my new vitality wobbles.

I am grateful to have motherwort as a companion on my trip, reminding me who I am now and shining that love out.

Take care, and I hope you take time to mother and tend to yourself.

If you are interested in learning simple tools to nourish yourself, I brought back my mini-course, Come Home. There are 3 pre-recorded 60-minute videos to help you connect to yourself through centering, breath, movement, journaling, and relaxation.

Talk to you soon,

Blythe
