During my lunch breaks I’ve been watching interviews with some of the biggest AI leaders in the world. It’s been a big mix of inspiring, concerning, and very interesting to say the least. I loved this conversation between Hannah Fry and Shane Legg (co‑founder of DeepMind). The gap between where AI is today and where it’s going is wider than most people realize.
Today I’m going to talk about Walmart’s announcement that AI shopping is driving 35% bigger baskets, why there’s probably more revenue coming from AI shopping to your brand than you’re seeing, and Reddit’s new shopping experience.
When the world shifts, it’s rarely a blink and you miss it moment. It’s a series of small flags that get waved one by one. Small enough for the average person to ignore, but obvious to anyone paying close attention to the future of their industry. Those small, consistent shifts are what start to tell the real story.
AI is already changing how people shop in the very boring, very measurable places that show up on a P&L: basket size, ecommerce growth, and which brands get surfaced at the exact moment of intent.
