In a bizarre reversal, new Yellowstone spinoff Dutton Ranch is enjoying high critical ratings and low viewership: Last week’s premiere was the least-watched series drop for a new Taylor Sheridan production, but Dutton Ranch is sitting in the critical 80s and high 70s on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s like this isn’t even ‘Murica anymore.

You’re Killing Me (Acorn TV) New series: To solve the murder of a close friend, a bestselling novelist (Brooke Shields) teams up with a true crime podcaster (Amalia Williamson) as more bodies pile up in the small New England town of Founder’s Cove. Meanwhile, a local police detective (Tom Cavanagh) isn’t happy with their amateur investigations, which means they must be on to something. The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch (History) Season 7 premiere: Seven seasons, little evidence of anything alien-related on Utah’s Skinwalker Ranch—but all they need is another couple of seasons, man. Are Dr. Travis Taylor and his team just dragging this out so ranch owner Brandon Fugal can pull down more TV money and merch sales? The Nightmare Upstairs: What Happened to Ty and Bryn? (Hulu) New docuseries: In other Utah drama, siblings Ty and Brynlee Larson barricaded themselves in a room in their mom’s Salem home for 54 days in 2023, refusing a court order to return to the custody of their dad, Brent, alleging that he sexually assaulted them. Jack Ryan: Ghost War (Prime Video) Movie premiere: Jack (John Krasinsky) is back with a movie to cap off the recently concluded Jack Ryan spy thriller series, this time facing off against a rogue black-ops unit embroiled in a—wait for it—deadly, globe-spanning conspiracy. Michael Kelly and Wendell Pierce also return as Jack’s CIA buds, who are joined by an MI6 agent (Sienna Miller) with an agenda of her own. The Boroughs (Netflix) New series: The elderly residents of a retirement community band together to fight a supernatural, possibly alien force, which sounds like an age-swapped Stranger Things (The Boroughs was produced by the Duffer Brothers, so there’s a connection). Cinephiles of impeccable taste will instead compare the geezers vs. evil plot to that of Bubba Ho-Tep, the 2002 horror-comedy starring Bruce Campbell as the “Elvis” who never died in the ’70s. The Boroughs stars Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Clarke Peters, Bill Pullman, Denis O’Hare, Ed Begley Jr., Jena Malone, Karan Soni, Rafael Casal, Dee Wallace, and Jane Kaczmarek, and all eight episodes stream on May 21. Ladies First is an English-language remake Netflix France’s 2018 movie I Am Not an Easy Man, because of course the French came up with this Satanic plot to please The Globalists (as Ben Shapiro’s review will go). Mating Season (Netflix) New series: The creators of Big Mouth are back with Mating Season, which is pretty much the same horny show, but with forest animals instead of human children.
