a poem

Wander and hove on devastated desert
Sand slicing to and fro
Settling like shards of hatred, whipping
Abdicated joy
But call it ‘peace’

The trodding plod of a rotting god
Rends valleys in the marrow of the land
Blooming lakes of crystal
Resplendent and triumphal
But seen only as a mirror
Disfigured the endless dunes of the
Desiccated desert
Sand slicing fro and to

Clutch out and grasp
Lace out and twine, sylvan viridian vine
Blooming the most crimson folds
Laden with lovesong lyrics
Disfigured by deaf madmen who only know the
Beats and the laughter and nothing else

Leave me leaking, tide-tossed and harrowed
Hale but empty, the husk of a fruit long-ago used
Gnarled driftwood baking in ancient sunlight
White as the bones scrimshawed with your name
Bursting lava, magma blood firing
Forming anew the ideas forgotten
Unforgettable and flinging
The righteous screaming for the sea

So cycles my oubliette ouroboros
Hightide and moonrise
Sunset and storm
Erasing--
No, razing
The knotted soul is
Solace found

Fleeting fierce firebrand
Your heat is my pain
And my green-growing raincloud
Drenches the plain
Twilight tidefoam scything
So silver, so gray
Steady is the shadow
Breaking the day
