This week, policymakers, civil society organizations, and international financial institutions gather in Washington, DC, for the 2026 World Bank and International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings. The week ahead offers a valuable opportunity to come together, reflect on progress and challenges, and consider how development finance can better serve people and communities around the world.
Bank Information Center looks forward to these conversations. Throughout the week, we will convene and participate in several events focused on accountability, institutional reform, and development outcomes. Our event schedule below shows where you can find us throughout the week. We hope you can join us and take part in these meaningful exchanges.
On Tuesday, we will reflect on what made the Tacana land titling process a rare example of meaningful remedy for Indigenous Peoples in Bolivia, and the role of the Inter-American Development Bank’s independent accountability mechanism. RSVP here.
BIC’s Executive Director, Elana Berger, will join a World Bank Group-hosted panel examining how accountability and compliance functions across the institution. She will be joined by Maninder Gill (Global WBG Director for Environmental & Social Policy), Ibrahim Pam (Chairperson of the Inspection Panel), and moderator Karen Mathiasen (Center for Global Development). This conversation will offer space for open exchange on how these systems operate and how they can continue to evolve.
This event will be from 10-11:30 am. RSVP by April 13th to join in person, or join virtually using this Zoom link.
Our Civil Society Policy Forum (CSPF) panel on Thursday will examine the on-the-ground implications of the One World Bank Group initiative to merge its environmental and social (E&S) standards across its public and private lending.
Another BIC-sponsored CSPF panel will evaluate the International Finance Corporation’s interim Remedial Action Framework (RAF), focusing on its successes and lessons learned, while defining the strategic priorities needed to optimize the framework’s remaining pilot phase.
