Tragedy in Hollywood: They Didn’t Save the Cheerleader
But before the funnies, we have to express our profound sorrow at the terrible news this morning that actress Hayden Panettiere passed away Sunday at the age of 36. While cause of death has not been revealed, it is clear from her recent autobiography that Hollywood did a number on her almost from the start, pushing pills on her when she was 15 and starring in “Heroes,” pushing her into a bedroom with a naked A-list actor while still a teen, pushing a post-partum depression storyline on her in “Nashville” when she was suffering greatly from the affliction. On and on.
We pray for her daughter and family and friends. And for all young actors in Hollywood that they may avoid the traps that ensnared Panettiere.
But we can also remember the gems she left us, as the little girl in “Remember the Titans,” the teen who was key to the survival of the planet (“Save the cheerleader, save the world”), the rising musical superstar in “Nashville.” Such a gift. Such a loss. Such a shame.

Yesterday Was National Roller Coaster Day
The holiday’s had its ups and downs.
By strange coincidence, it was also National Hurl Your Lunch Day.
My favorite roller coaster as a kid was the Rebel Yell at King’s Dominion. Woke ruined that. Made them change the name. Can’t have something named after racists. Ah. But how do you get there from Maryland? You cross the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.
Incidentally, the Rebel Yell is now called Racer 75. Mostly by people who still wear COVID masks.
