It's a feeling <3

It was a beautiful weekend in New York, the sun shone and good soccer was enjoyed. I ended up in a bizarre place in Red Hook that was projecting the games on the side of a wall 40 feet wide. It did get me thinking how so much of what I love about live music is also shard in enjoyment of sport. Collective enthusiasm! Shared attention! Anyway. Manny set up a cute little outdoor smoking/chilling area at baby’s, the last Games Days is this week, and I’ll be enjoying that as the summer ticks along. Love you see you soon - Caroline

MONDAY:

EARLY: PLAYROOM (7:00PM) <AA>

Lighthearted and breezy indie pop from a sweet brother duo, very easy to get behind. This track reminds me a little of Hers. Support from Parlour Magic. - Caroline

TUESDAY:

EARLY: MY WONDERFUL BOYFRIEND (7:00PM) <21+>

This is that feel good indie rock that makes you wanna get up and going in the morning. Hook after hook, their songs pull you in with crunchy guitars and lyrics that don’t take themselves too seriously. Check out their latest single My Love, My Darling for a wonderful taste. - Baby Intern Ava

WEDNESDAY:

EARLY: MAYA ENGEN (6:30PM) <AA>

Country pop star fresh out the oven. Went to the academy of Amy Winehouse evidently, strong vocal performance and jazzy smoky powerful pop melodies, heavy bass + nice brass arrangements, it’s fun! - Caroline

LATE: JOJOMBER (9:30PM) <21+>

Bedroom pop is here to stay don’t let the grown ups tell you otherwise. Jojomber’s tunes are bright and charming, cutesy even. Joined by Ava Mccoy and Selfie. - Caroline

THURSDAY:

EARLY: WIM TAPLEY & THE CANNONS + CERTAINLY SO (6:30PM) <18+>

Dual headline from two Alt-americana pop bands who are big on reels. They all seem to be wonderful friendly kind people on social media and in my inbox and the music sounds that way too - Caroline

LATE: BLU + EXILE (9:30PM) <18+>

these are some of my OGs. Been listening to Below The Heavens for many many years. Classic hip-hop rapper / producer duos, up there with Madvillain, Freddie Gibbs & Madlib, Run the Jewels. One of my favourites Quelle Chris on support + Brainorchestra and Sirplus. Excellent night of hip-hop. - Oscar

FRIDAY:

EARLY: NOAH LEVINE (6:30PM) <18+>

Grounded and folk-leaning pop from Noah Levine, celebrating the release of his new record Leaver. Reminds me of Ryan Beatty kinda? Nice earth production on this, pretty ambient sounds. Corey Harper on the warm up all the way from Oregon, bit of a toe-tapper here. - Caroline

LATE: SLOPPY JANE (10:00PM) <21+>

Haley is bidding goodbye to her last album after 5 years with a final full performance of Madison. Give it a fond farewell Friday :,( - Eli

SATURDAY:

EARLY: GAMES DAYS (5:00PM) <21+>

My prediction—France v Argentina for third place. I’m an underdog guy. Final installment of our world cup watch party series ends the road to third place with live sets from Combo Chimbita, Le Keep and Saudi Oil, and DJ sets from Amr + Jawshy (Josh from Yumi Zouma). I’ll be watching from Germany send recs - Eli

I don’t know about the rest of you but I am all in on the World Cup. I’m calling offsides. I’m yelling at the ref. I don’t even know who I’m going for anymore as everyone I stand behind gets knocked out. Come celebrate mediocrity (third place - my money’s on England) with wonderful, far from mediocre bands, Combo Chimbita, Saudi Oil, Le Keep <3 - Oscar

LATE: BABY DANCE (11:00PM) <21+>

The best place to be on a saturday night is Baby’s All Right* and it’s no exception this week. Boyfriend Network, French Kissed, Tuf, and Ruby Joan headlining our free Saturday series you know and love. - Caroline

*unless you got into Madonna last minute this past weekend shoutout Tanvi

SUNDAY:

EARLY: FIRST DAY BACK (6:30PM) <AA>

First Day Back is bringing their infectious energy to Baby’s for one night only in New York City. You can hear the sense of community they foster within their sound, a joined sense of pain, nostalgia, and conquering. The vast array of instrumentation and emotional expression heard in their music cannot be ignored. - Baby Intern Ava

Second wave emo is alive and well. These kids are so sick. I’ll be coming off a 10 hour flight followed by immediately meeting the movers at my storage unit to move into my apartment, and you will still find me at this show after all that - Eli

LATE: TWIN FIN (9:30PM) <21+>

Unquestionable surf rock from Honolulu, twangy in nature, lilted and catchy. Summer Sunday evening. - Caroline
