You Don't Get to Coast Through the Life You Pray For

The Intentional Woman · AuJene'

A few years ago, I thought life would eventually settle down.

That one day I’d wake up and everything would feel easy.

The career would make sense.

The money would flow.

Love would find me.

My purpose would become obvious.

I’d finally feel like I had arrived.

The older I get, the more I realize...

Life doesn’t work like that.

You don’t arrive.

You become.

Every season asks something different of you.

One season asks you to be patient.

Another asks you to be brave.

Another asks you to let go.

Another asks you to begin again.

And somewhere in between all of that, you’re becoming the person you prayed to be.

This week, I found myself thinking about how easy it is to slip into autopilot.

To wake up.

Answer emails.

Scroll.

Work.

Eat.

Sleep.

Repeat.

Days turn into weeks.

Weeks turn into years.

And before you know it, you’re living a life you never intentionally chose.

That’s what scares me more than failure.

Not failing.

Floating.

Coasting.

Existing instead of living.

Because the truth is...

No one accidentally builds an extraordinary life.

Extraordinary lives are built through ordinary decisions made consistently.

Choosing the workout when no one is watching.

Choosing to save instead of spend.

Choosing to speak up when your voice shakes.

Choosing to apologize.

Choosing to forgive.

Choosing to leave what no longer serves you.

Choosing yourself over your comfort zone.

Those choices don’t feel life changing in the moment.

But they compound.

I think we underestimate the power of one intentional day.

One intentional morning becomes an intentional week.

One intentional week becomes an intentional month.

One intentional month becomes an intentional year.

And one intentional year can completely change your life.

People always ask me how I stay motivated.

The truth is...

I don’t.

Motivation comes and goes.

Discipline stays.

But even discipline isn’t enough.

Because discipline without purpose eventually feels exhausting.

What keeps me moving is remembering the woman I’m becoming.

She deserves my best today.

Not tomorrow.

Not next month.

Today.

Every decision I make is either introducing me to her...

Or delaying the moment we finally meet.

That thought changes everything.

I don’t wake up early because someone on the internet told me to.

I wake up early because I love the woman I’m becoming.

I eat well because I respect the body carrying me toward my dreams.

I study because ignorance has never been part of my vision.

I protect my peace because chaos has never been my calling.

None of those decisions are glamorous.

Most people will never see them.

But they are the reason my life keeps changing.

We spend so much time waiting for our big break.

Sometimes the breakthrough is hidden inside the small decisions we keep overlooking.

Maybe the life you’re praying for isn’t waiting on another opportunity.

Maybe it’s waiting on another version of you.

And she isn’t created overnight.

She’s created every time you choose intention over autopilot.

Every single day.

What is one small decision you could make today that your future self will quietly thank you for a year from now?

If this resonated with you, subscribe and join me each week as we build beautiful lives with intention. I’d love to have you here.

With intention,

AuJené
