This year, I’ve taken myself on more dates than I probably ever have.
Dinner.
Lunch.
The spa.
Museums.
Little afternoons where I get dressed, put on a perfume I love, and go somewhere simply because I want to experience it.
Sometimes there’s a reservation.
Sometimes there’s no plan at all.
And somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn’t just learning how to spend time alone.
I was learning how I expect to feel in my own life.
There’s a difference.
I think sometimes when people hear “date yourself,” they picture a woman sitting alone at a beautiful restaurant trying to prove she doesn’t need anybody.
That has never been the point for me.
