Earlier this week, someone close to me came into town.
We had plans. We laughed. We spent time together. Everything felt normal.
A few days later, they were struggling to breathe.
They had been feeling short of breath for a little while, but like so many of us do, they assumed it would pass.
It didn’t.
A clinic sent them straight to the hospital, where doctors discovered a collapsed lung.
Within hours, an ordinary week became a hospital room, a procedure, and a reminder I haven’t been able to stop thinking about:
Life can change before you finish the plans you made for it.
